The second meeting for the formation of a Citizens Defence Committee was held on Saturday the 26th of February in Capel Street, Dublin 1. Most of those who attended the first meeting were present, along with some new attendees and a member of the IRSP who attended in a personal capacity.
All five initiatives were discussed further, however it was decided that the water harvesting initiative and the anti-social behaviour initiative would be temporarily put aside for the time being. It was decided that the focus for the immediate future is for the development and implementation of the housing, waste and community garden/agricultural initiatives. Sub-committees have been formed to research and gather information for the implementation of these initiatives.
It was generally agreed that this second meeting was very constructive and more focused than the first, and with no background or introduction to the ideas behind the CDC necessary.
To give sufficient time for the research and aims needed for the community gardens and housing initiatives, the next meeting has been scheduled for three weeks time.
